High-temperature application
Compared with traditional metals and refractory materials, silicon carbide ceramics exhibit superior resistance to thermal shock and rapid heating and cooling due to their high strength, hardness, elastic modulus, low thermal expansion coefficient, and high thermal conductivity. This makes them widely used in the kiln industry. Examples include rollers, square beams, and saggars for alumina powder sintering and daily porcelain sintering roller kilns; square beams and kiln plates for high-temperature pusher kilns; and burner nozzles, thermocouple protection tubes for glass and quartz melting, and heating tubes for metal melting.
